Frequently Asked Questions
What is UCR?
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Program is an annual federal registration system for interstate motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies, requiring an annual fee based on fleet size.
Who is required to register for UCR?
Generally, interstate motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies operating in interstate commerce are required to register annually. If you are unsure whether you are covered, consult the official UCR Plan website or a qualified advisor.
When does 2027 UCR registration open?
The 2027 UCR registration portal is scheduled to open October 1, 2026, based on the official UCR fee schedule effective date.
How much are the 2027 UCR fees?
The 2027 UCR registration fees range from $55 for 0–2 vehicles up to $54,165 for fleets of 1,001+ vehicles, plus our service fee. See the fee table above for the full schedule.
How are UCR fees calculated?
UCR fees are calculated based on the number of vehicles in your fleet as of the applicable bracket, combined with your selected registration year, using the current published fee schedule.
What vehicles count toward my UCR fee?
Generally, the power units (trucks, tractors) used in interstate commerce count toward your fleet size for UCR purposes. Confirm your specific count during the review step of your order.
Why do you need my USDOT number?
Your USDOT number allows us to retrieve your company's available carrier information so you can review and confirm it, rather than re-entering everything by hand.
Where does my company information come from?
Company information is retrieved from third-party carrier data sources (CarrierOK) using your USDOT number. You will always have the opportunity to review and correct this information before it is used.
Can I edit the company information retrieved for my USDOT number?
Yes. During the review step, you can edit any field that appears incorrect or outdated before confirming and continuing.
What if my vehicle count has changed?
You can update your vehicle count during the review step. Your UCR fee bracket and total will be recalculated automatically based on the confirmed count.
Can brokers register?
Brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies that are subject to UCR requirements can use this service to complete their registration, in addition to motor carriers.
What information do I need to start?
You will need your USDOT number, basic applicant contact information, your current company information, your current vehicle count, and a payment method.
How long does processing take?
Processing times vary. You will receive email updates as your order moves through each stage, and you can check current status any time using your order tracking link.
How will I know when my registration is completed?
We will send you an email as soon as your registration has been completed, along with a secure link to your registration document.
How will I receive my registration document?
Your registration document will be available through a secure, expiring link sent to your email once processing is complete.

Does UCR Renewal Center charge a service fee?
